President Biden meets with 4-year-old Abigail Edan, the youngest American hostage freed by Hamas.

Abigail Mor Edan, a 4-year-old American child whose parents were slain in an attack by Hamas on October 7, was seen by President Biden on Wednesday.

Sullivan, the president’s national security advisor, stated that the president and Abigail met in the White House. At the time of her abduction, militants had already murdered her parents. Tragically, her mother was shot right in front of her while her father was shot down while protecting her.

Being a dual citizen of the United States and Israel, Abigail celebrated her fourth birthday while in prison. After 50 days in captivity, she became the youngest American captive to be freed from the extremist group based in Gaza.

According to Sullivan, meeting Abigail served as a “reminder in getting to see her that there are still Americans and others being held hostage.”

Her aunt informed CBS News that the girl’s family was ecstatic to have her back after her November release, and that they were encircling her “with love and care.” When the incident happened, Abigail’s younger siblings—aged 6 and 10—hid in a closet until help arrived.

President Trump has described Abigail’s ordeal as “unthinkable.”

With a cry of gratitude, Mr. Biden informed reporters that the young girl had been released. “I wish I were there to hold her.”

The United States and Israel have long recognized Hamas as a terrorist organization. On Wednesday, the group published a video purporting to show Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin giving a lengthy statement that was obviously prepared by Hamas.

A U.S. official has stated that there are five American captives who have not been found but are believed to still be alive. All five of them are men.
