Thirty-five years old NHL player Bobby Ryan was arrested at the Nashville International airport on Monday. He was arrested on charges of public intoxication; Ryan, who has been very open about his alcohol addiction, is said to have stolen items from an airport store without paying. After this incident, the store owner informed the police, who started tracking his movements through security cameras.
He reportedly left the items on a counter before entering a brewery; when police officers got to him, he was ordering a drink. Ryan was highly intoxicated and couldn’t even stand on his own. He was unaware of his whereabouts and couldn’t tell the time and date.

Ryan took a break from Ottawa Senators from 2019-2020 to treat his alcohol addiction; due to his transparency and will, he was awarded the Bill Masterton Trophy in the same year.
Ryan was last suited up in the 2020-2021 season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he played 33 games and scored seven goals and 14 points. A lack of speed is noticed in Ryan’s recent game, which has led to a dipping down of scores in his final few seasons in the league.
In his prime, Ryan was considered one of the most efficient and great players. He had a record of continuously scoring north of 30 goals for four seasons from 2008-2012.
Although Ryan has not played in the 2021-2022 season, his official retirement is yet to come. Despite the current setback, Ryan has shown immense bravery and transparency by being public about his alcohol addiction. Getting rid of any addiction is not easy, and we sincerely hope that Ryan will get over this soon and head on the right path.
