President Biden confirms Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri death in a drone airstrike.
President Joe Biden stated that the United States murdered al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri in an Afghanistan unmanned aerial vehicles operation. This Sunday, he had been murdered in a CIA counter-terrorism mission in Kabul, Afghanistan’s main city.
According to Mr. Biden, Zawahiri has “crafted a path of slaughter and brutality against American civilians.” “Justice has been served, and this terrorist commander is no longer alive,” he continued.
Following Osama Bin Laden’s killing in 2011, Zawahiri seized to head al-Qaeda. He and Bin Laden collaborated in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, thereby making him one of the US’s “highest sought terrorists.”
How was Ayman’s murder planned?
According to authorities, Zawahiri was standing on the terrace of a secret location while the drone launched two projectiles toward him.
Several family members also seem to have been there; however, they were unhurt, claiming that only Zawahiri got slain in the incident. After several weeks of preparation, Mr Biden declared that he had granted written permission for the “precise hit” on the 71-year-old Egyptian.
Biden noted that his death would offer peace to the relatives of the roughly 3,000 deceased of the September 11 attacks in 2001. “Regardless of how long it takes or where you hide, if you are a threat to our people, the United States will find you and take you out,” Mr Biden stated, stressing that “we shall never waver from defending our nation and its people.”

What were some of Ayman’s infamous acts?
Biden reportedly claimed that Zawahiri was responsible for earlier heinous acts of brutality, which included the suicide bomb attack of another USS Cole naval warship near Aden in October 2000, that further slaughtered 17 US soldiers, as well as the 1998 assaults on US compounds in Kenya and Tanzania, which massacred 223 individuals.
“Such activities are a re-enactment of failed experiences over the last two decades and are detrimental to the interests of the United States of America, Afghanistan, and the region,” the representative continued.
The Taliban committed in a 2020 reconciliation pact only with the United States to not permit al-Qaeda or any additional extremist group to function in the territories they control.
