Emmy-nominated actor, Taurean Blacque, dies at 82
Emmy-nominated actor Taurean Blacque died at the age of 82 years following a brief illness in Atlanta. His family disclosed the tragic news through a statement on Thursday.
Taurean was best known for his role in the 1980s NBC drama series Hill Street Blues.
Early life and career highlights of Taurean Blacque:
Taurean was born in New Jersey and began his acting career at a company named Negro Ensemble, located in New York. His training at the acting school helped him bag many guest roles in series and shows like What’s Happening, Taxi, Sanford and Son, and Good Times.
Taurean got his well-deserved recognition when he starred in the show Hill Street Blues. He played the role of streetwise detective Neal Washington. The shoe ran from 1981-1987. Taurean was nominated as the best supporting actor in a drama series in 1981.
Traurean has also worked with stars like Vivian A. Fox for NBC Soap Opera Generations, which depicted the topic of Integration for two different families, one black and another white.
Later, he was actively associated with the Atlanta Black Theater Company and The Black Theater Festival in North Carolina. Taurean had two biological children and adopted 11 others; President George H.W. Bush asked him to become the national spokesperson for adoption for the country of Los Angeles in 1989.
