Suicide claimed the life of Keisha Gibbs-Bartley, Merciless’s wife. Keisha’s heart attack was caused by her taking multiple medications at once. His real name is Leonard Bartley, although he goes by the stage moniker Merciless. He was born on July 1, 1971, in Chapelton, Clarendon, Jamaica. On July 19, 2022, he left this world in Kingston, Jamaica. His set included reggae and dancehall. Merciless’s early use of sound systems was quite effective. Later, in the late 1990s, he adopted “conscious” lyrical content alongside a number of other dancehall musicians. His first single, “Lend Out Mi Mercy,” released in 1994, became a huge smash not only in Jamaica but around the world.
