The case of Archie battersbee:
On 7th April, Archie, a 12-year-old kid, was found unconscious in his room. Later it’s found out that the kid is dealing with brain damage. The parents then took him to the hospital. It’s been two months since the kid is still on life support. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday.
His mother believed that the kid was participating in online challenges, which led to this harm to him. The doctors have been arguing back and forth with the parents to stop life support. The doctors made their point by saying that artificial systems have maintained the kid’s body function, and he is now fighting for himself to survive every day.
The parents declined to take the life support from their child and leave me like that to die. They appealed to higher courts and appealed for life support to keep going on. The Government itself is taking an interest in it.
Parent’s perspective on the matter:
The parents, Hollie dance and Paul battersbee said they were devastated and shocked by the doctors’ statement and the court’s judgment. They said they were going to fight as long as they could and to help their kid in every possible manner.
They will take the help of superior to superior jurisdiction if that’s needed. The mother also gave an important message to other parents out there to check on their kids from time to time, try to have a conversation with them, and try to know what they are dealing with. Further, she said she doesn’t want to see other parents suffering like them for their children.
