On Tuesday, June 7, Tokyo Olympic and paralympic champion Avani Lekhara won the gold medal at the Para Shooting World Championship in Chateauroux, France, with a new record score of 250.6 in women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1.
Avani Lekhara shattered her previous world record of 249.6 to earn participation in the Paris Paralympics in 2024. Prime Minister praises Avani Lekhara for her gold medal in the Para Shooting World Championships. At the Tokyo Paralympics in August last year, Lekhara won the gold medal in his group’s 10m air rifle standing competition.
Avani Lekhara’s New Record Score-
In the women’s 10-meter air rifle standing SH1 event, Tokyo Olympic and paralympic champion Avani Lekhara won the gold medal with a new record score of 250.6 in Chateauroux, France. Lekhara won the gold medal three days after her trainer and guard had been rejected permits, threatening her participation in the Para Shooting World Cup.
The Visa was approved when the Sports Ministry and the Sports Authority of India interfered. In his remarks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Avani Lekhara’s gold medal win at the Para Shooting World Championships. Avani Lekhara thanked the Prime Minister for his encouragement and kindness.
Avani Lekhara’s Career–
In 2015, she won gold for her state of Rajasthan in the National Shooting Competition. Avani made her impressive debut in the 2017 Al Ain Para Shooting World Championships. After several months, she was lucky to win the third position in Bangkok’s 2017 WSPS World Cup.
She had an excellent result in the 2018 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup, winning three gold medals in separate events. She won the gold medal in 10m Rifle prone, and 3rd place. In 2019, she was lucky to win gold medals and one bronze medal in a separate competition. This achievement was accomplished in 2019 at the 63rd National Shooting Tournament in Bhopal, India.
