Who was Sidney Wolf? Ex-Cuomo staffer was thrown from a Lyft and struck and murdered by a passing automobile.
The Lyft driver and Wolf and his five companions got into an argument and the driver requested them to get out of the car. An ex-employee of Andrew Cuomo’s was driven down by a car after being thrown out of a Lyft by an irate motorist on a Delaware highway.
The Delaware State Police report that at 1:44 a.m. on Sunday, Sidney Wolf was struck and killed on Route 1 of the Coastal Highway after the driver had signalled for Wolf and five of his friends to exit the vehicle. The Lyft driver had to pull over after an argument with the passengers, the nature of which is unknown. Last week, a 23-year-old University of Utah student disappeared after taking a Lyft from the airport, and his family and friends are desperate for answers.
Wolf had just climbed out of the backseat and was standing in the road when the driver of the Toyota Corolla trailing the Lyft swerved to miss the stalled vehicle. Five other passengers were unharmed. The person in the Toyota stayed at the scene, but the Lyft driver ran off and is currently at large. The latter picked up the group of six from Dewey Beach and drove them to Bethany Beach. Police said the collision occurred south of Anchor Way.
A Lyft representative told FOX 5, “We are horrified by what happened. We have reached out to the rider to let them know that they have the support of our entire team during this difficult time, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family. We have been in touch with the authorities, and we want to assist them in any way we can. Wolf was Andrew Cuomo’s chief policy adviser. When I heard the terrible news, I was stunned and devastated. Sid was a standout in New York City administration and did amazing work for the city’s residents. As a father, my heart goes out to Lindsey and his two daughters who have been subjected to Cuomo’s tweets.
Members of the family also took to social media to express their sadness:
“The “pedestrian” killed in this terrible, avoidable accident was my amazing, clever, sensitive, witty, and loving nephew Sid Wolf. I called him “king of the menches” because he was so good to my mom and he loved my sons like they were his own. You couldn’t ask for a happier or more proud dad,” a Facebook post read. Further, “I’m sending my family a lot of love in the wake of the sudden and unexpected death of dear Sid Wolf,” the writer said.
My thoughts are with him and my family at this time. I love and miss you all very much. I’m quite sad about the loss of a beloved relative. A member of the family who was described as “the rock” due to his unassuming confidence and self-control.
