Caroline Edwards is a U.S capitol female police officer patrolling at the riot of Jan 6, 2021, attack on the capitol and facing and fighting alone in the intense environment of the war carrying people’s anger and fear together. “It was carnage. It was chaos. I can’t describe what I saw,” she said. She was scared herself but helped others during the danger.
Description of the circumstances-
She was the first law enforcement officer who was injured in the attack. Edwards suffered from a traumatic brain injury at the time of the incident, resulting in her fainting between the smoky gas and fire zone areas. Still, she managed and forbade the entrance of many rioters to the capitol building and patrolled the capitol’s west plaza.
“I remember every event of Jan 6,” she said. Despite having a brain injury, she overcame all the hurdles on the street as well as the system of her body. During the time of the war, she was being asked by the rioter, “why is she standing in their way”?
She was one of the two eyewitnesses who fought for justice at Thursday’s prime-time hearing, held by the House panel investigating. The second witness, Nick, questioned a filmmaker from Britain who recorded the proud boy’s right-wing extremist group and explained the situation and what his eyes saw during the war. “People were outraged with anger and profanity”, he testified.
Her injuries are not letting her join the Capitol police’s First Responder unit, but she will manage to return to duty sometime this year.
Digging the past-
After researching Caroline Edwards, we found that her hometown was Atlanta. The University of Georgia was where she graduated with honors and became an alumna. She was a public relations officer before working for law enforcement in 2017.
