The death news of Councillor John Lehners is all over social media. His death has been confirmed by authorities.
The statement did not specify the reason for death or the date of death.
Lehners was completing his inaugural term on the city council following his win as a councillor.
John Lehners was a Grande Prairie native and a social activist. he was an engineer by profession and founded a thriving engineering company that operates across the United States
“For his many years of service, John received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Peace Region Engineering Association,” according to the announcement.
“He gave his time to several organisations, including the Swan City Rotary Club, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, and the Grande Prairie Legends of Hockey Committee.”
His influence was felt powerfully as a trustee for the Grande Prairie Public School Board for 20 years, nine of which he served as Chair.”
Lehners was appointed to the town council, and his tragic death affected the entire council and administration.

Funeral plans have yet to be revealed.

Prior to his death, Lehners was the president of the Business Support Committee and was very devoted to his work and community. Clayton described his influence as powerful.
