Freshman Anna Jones was found dead on campus, and 47-year-old student Richard Sigman has been charged with her murder. Jones was shot early on a Saturday morning in a parking garage. Sigman allegedly had a fight with another man in an Italian restaurant. At least one of the shots he fired later in the parking lot struck Anna, killing her. Charges Faced by Richard Sigman:
Richard Sigman got into a verbal altercation with another man at an Italian restaurant in Carrollton. The second man allegedly informed security that Sigman had threatened to shoot him. When security guards discovered the professor’s firearm, they told him to go immediately. Aggravated Sigman then departed and walked to the car lot. Soon after, he started firing into a parked car, where he eventually found and killed his target. 18-year-old passenger Anna Jones was shot while in the automobile. After being transferred to the hospital, she was confirmed dead there. Carrollton police have taken Sigman into custody and charged him with murder, aggravated assault, and handgun possession. It happened quite early Saturday morning.
This investigation is still under progress. The Carrollton Police have asked that anyone with information get in touch with them. Inmate information from the Carroll County Jail website showed that Sigman was “currently booked” as of Sunday. The bond amount has not been disclosed.
